Hyundai seems to have discontinued the Santa Fe in India, is it the Tucson effect?
Hyundai seems to have pulled the plug on the Santa Fe in India, as it no longer features on the Indian website. The company could have arrived at this decision owing to the low sales of the SUV over the last 6 months. We believe sales could have fallen due to the Tucson that’s priced quite near to the Santa Fe. The top-spec Tucson diesel costs Rs. 24.71 lakhs while the Santa Fe’s prices start at Rs. 27.87 lakhs, both prices (ex-showroom, Delhi).
While few dealerships have acknowledged that the Hyundai Santa Fe has been discontinued, some others added that the car will be available on a made-to-order basis only. However, nothing is certain as of yet. Hyundai hasn’t officially given a word on the Santa Fe being discontinued.
The sales figures of the Santa Fe for the last 2 months are as below –
* August 2017 – 1 unit
* July 2017 – 14 units
The Santa Fe’s rivals, the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour are comparatively doing good numbers. Hyundai has sold only 67 units of the Santa Fe in the last 6 months but in comparison, Toyota has sold 2116 units of the Fortuner and Ford has sold 1163 units of the Endeavour in the month of August alone.
The Santa Fe comes powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 197 HP of power and 436 Nm of torque. The SUV is available in 3 variants – 2WD, 2WD AT and 4WD AT.
