What next for Hyundai after the launch of the next generation Verna? Well, the company is eyeing the small car and compact SUV segments. The second half of 2018, will see the small car being launched, while in 2019, the company will roll out its compact SUV. This compact SUV will rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the facelifted Ford EcoSport.

There were speculations that Hyundai would use the Santro badge for the upcoming small car. But the carmaker recently confirmed that a different name is likely to be used, keeping in mind the current market scenario. This compact car will be positioned between the Eon and Grand i10.

Codenamed as ‘AH’, this Hyundai small car will feature crossover styling. Hyundai could plonk the 1.2-litre petrol engine in this small hatchback and the biggest news is the introduction of AMT gearbox to the small car’s powertrain. Yes, Hyundai’s AMT technology will make its debut in this small car.

In terms of dimensions, the upcoming small car will be larger and wider than the Santro. The vehicle will rival the Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio and Renault Kwid.
