Maruti Ciaz Spied Side

One of the most anticipated launches this year, Maruti Suzuki will make a comeback to the C-segment sedan space with the Ciaz that will replace the SX4 in the company’s portfolio. Showcased as the Ciaz concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in February this year, the Ciaz will see a launch by August and could possibly be the longest and most luxurious sedan in its class. Now, the new spy shots snapped by Gaadiwaadi.com reveal the interiors of the top end Ciaz that gets all the bells and whistles to boast off.

The interiors of the Ciaz sport a black and beige colour scheme, while the seats have been upholstered in leather. The driver’s side seat gets height adjustment, while arm rests are standard. Expect the dashboard to be finished with brushed aluminium and chrome bezels for a premium appeal. A lot of parts come from the Ertiga and DZire as well like the door handle and the power window switches. The Ciaz will also get a start-stop button and a multi-function 3-spoke steering wheel.

At the rear, the legroom has been enhanced with the concave curve at the back of the front seats. The Maruti Ciaz also features air-con vents for rear passengers with individual controls. The sedan gets a dead pedal that will be standard across all variants, which is a welcome feature that we need to see more often. In terms of gadgetry, the Ciaz features a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth telephony, USB and AUX connectivity, auto dimming rear view mirror and automatic climate control; while safety features could include dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist.

On the outside, the car will resemble the China specific Alivio model, but will not get dual exhaust ports. Instead, the Maruti Ciaz will get a revised bumper featuring reflector lights. Maruti is most likely to offer 205 section tyres on 16-inch alloy wheels on the Ciaz. Engine options on the other hand will include the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol motor, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission (to take on the Honda City CVT). The 1.4-litre K-Series motor from the Ertiga could also be an option. The Ciaz sedan is expected to be priced between Rs. 7-10 lakhs.
