Jeep Grand Cherokee bookings commence in India, launch on 17th November

Jeep Grand Cherokee is finally here in its latest avatar as bookings commence in the country while the local assembly starts at their Ranjangaon facility. The new Grand Cherokee will make its India debut on 17th November and the carmaker will announce the pricing on the same day.

In Jeep India’s lineup, it will be positioned above the Jeep Meridian. It’s the fourth locally assembled Jeep in the country after Compass, Meridian and Wrangler.

In terms of styling, it looks very similar to its younger siblings, the Meridian and Compass but it has a premiums stance of its own which distinguishes the character of this SUV.

It is expected to come with a price tag of Rs. 80-85 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will compete with the likes of BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE.

While the last generation Grand Cherokee was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engine options, the new one will come with a single powertrain option. It is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 4×4 system.

The 5th gen Grand Cherokee will offer Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) that comes with features like Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus Pedestrian Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind Spot and Cross Path Detection, Passive Pedestrian Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, Active Lane Management System, and Intersection Collision Assist System.

Other features to include, Active Noise Control System, 10-inch heads-up display, 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 10.25-inch front passenger interactive display, etc.
