Kia Carens Clavis EV To Launch On July 15, Will Be The Brand’s First Mass-Produced EV In India

Kia is set to launch the Carens Clavis EV. It will be the brand’s first mass-produced electric car in India. The Carens Clavis EV will be launched on July 15.

Styling Changes

The Kia Carens Clavis EV will look similar to the ICE version of the MPV. However, design cues specific to EVs, like closed-off grilles and charging port integration, will be present. Additionally, there might be an option for an EV-specific blue shade similar to the Creta Electric.

Powertrain Options

The Carens Clavis EV will likely share the powertrain with the Hyundai Creta Electric. This means it will be offered with two capacities, 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The 42 kWh produces 133 HP and 200 NM of torque, whereas the 51.4 kWh version produces 169 HP and 200 NM of torque.

Battery Range & Charging

The electric batteries offer a range of 390 Km and 473 Km respectively. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% using fast DC charging in 58 minutes. Additionally, the 11 kW AC charging can charge the car from 10% to 100% in 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Interior Changes

On the inside, the Carens Clavis will feature dual 12.3-inch infotainment screens and a driver’s display. However, the display will have EV-specific UI/UX changes. This can include battery information, battery range and an option for battery preconditioning.
