Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 Front — Pure race car looks, but then again, it is only for track use

Lamborghini has unveiled its 818 HP track-only hypercar the Essenza SCV12 that is limited to only 40 units. The automaker says this is the first GT car to be developed as per FIA prototype safety rules.

It is clear that the design of the car is derived from race prototypes. Up front, there is a splitter with two hexagonal headlamps next to the air ducts. More ducts and air scoops can be seen on what would usually be the trunk lid on a Lambo.

The double air intake with a central rib separates hot air coming from the radiator and allows only cold air to the roof scoop and at the sides, there are extended sills with large radiator openings, which would be needed to keep the big V12 cool.

Go to the rear of the car and apart from the obvious large wing and enormous diffuser, we can also see slim tail lights and Capristo exhaust pipes that reduce back pressure and improve performance.

Also, the front splitter, side fins and the large rear wing are elements that have been taken from the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO.

Inside, the car is bare, with the steering having most of the essential buttons to operate it. There are a few more buttons, but why would anybody need anything more on a track-oriented hypercar?

Now let us look at some statistics of the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12. The 6.5-litre V12 produces 818 HP (830 PS) and the automaker says the car has 1.66 PS/kg power-to-weight ratio. It gets a X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox that drives the rear wheels.

Downforce levels are massive as well, with it producing 1200 kg of it at 250 km/hr. Fitted with slick Pirelli tires that are mounted on magnesium rims (19-inch front and 20-inch rear), the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 gets Brembo callipers as well.

Owners of the Essenza SCV12 will gain access to special Lamborghini racing programmes starting next year and also free storage at a new hangar built in Sant’Agata Bolognese where the cars can be monitored 24X7.
