Fiat India launched 2012 model year Fiat cars on the 4th of January 2012. The Italian automaker at that time did not reveal any details on the Punto 90 HP. The company had revealed that it has no plans to launch any new variant or product in 2012 and would concentrate on brand building and service network expansion this year. But now Fiat has sent us an invite that states it will be launching a limited edition variant of the Grande Punto 90 HP Sports on the 18th of May 2012. The company will also be inaugurating the second Fiat Caffe, in Pune.

The Fiat Grande Punto 90 HP is one of the most powerful diesel hatchbacks in the country, producing 93 PS of peak power output and 209 Nm of peak torque output. It features a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine with variable geometry turbocharger. When Fiat launched the Punto 90 HP in 2010, it was priced at Rs. 6.79 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). That time the excise duty on cars were lower so expect the 2012 Grande Punto 90 HP to be priced higher than before.

We are not quite sure what the Fiat Punto 90 HP Sports model will get but if the 2010 Auto Expo is any indication, we can expect racing stripes, black finished roof, red stitches on the dashboard, new alloy wheels, rear spoiler, red-coloured rear view mirrors, etc. Like always, we will get you live updates from the launch.
