Tata Motors has roped in ace footballer Lionel Messi as the brand ambassador of the upcoming Kite to create more buzz among the youth.

Tata Kite 5 Sedan Rendering
The Kite siblings will have a fresh new design unlike existing Tata cars

We have always seen car companies roping in Bollywood actors like Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, etc. to be brand ambassadors but this time Tata Motors is onto something completely different. The Indian automaker is bringing in football star Lionel Messi to promote the upcoming Kite and be its brand ambassador. This has just one meaning – Tata really wants to reach out to the youth with this new vehicle. The company has already shipped some units of the Kite to Spain for shooting videos and ad campaigns.

The Tata Kite comes with an all new design which looks surprisingly fresh according to our renderings. The interiors will also be hugely improved over the current lot of Tata cars. The Kite will come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a new 1.05-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine. The vehicle’s actual production is set to begin by December 2015 and we can expect an official launch by the 2016 Auto Expo.

The company earlier roped in Narain Karthikeyan during test runs of the Kite hatchback. Karthikeyan is a racer who has participated in Formula 1 and other racing series and hence his expertise would be of great benefit to Tata Motors, especially when it comes to power delivery, handling and ride. The Bolt and Zest are also very good when it comes to handling and ride and both of them have left us impressed in the past.

The Kite hatchback will be slotted below the Bolt while the sedan will be positioned below the Zest. The Bolt is selling in really low numbers every month while rivals are selling more than 10 times the units. Despite being a nice car, the Bolt bombed in the market due to optimistic pricing and it seems that Tata Motors will learn their lesson this time and price the Kite siblings very competitively.
