Mahindra BE 07 Spotted

Mahindra BE.07 electric SUV prototype spotted testing ahead of 2027 launch

A new Mahindra electric SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The heavily camouflaged prototype is believed to be the production version of the BE.07 concept, which will be the second model under Mahindra’s BE sub-brand. The upcoming SUV is expected to arrive around 2027 as part of the company’s expanding born-electric lineup.

The BE.07 will be among Mahindra’s future EVs based on its INGLO electric platform. It will follow other models built on the same architecture, including the XEV 9e, XEV 9S and BE 6. Once launched, the SUV is likely to play a significant role in the brand’s electric vehicle portfolio.

Based on early estimates, the BE.07 will be larger than the BE 6 and could measure around 4.6 metres in length. This would position it in the midsize electric SUV segment, where it could compete with upcoming models such as the Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7.

The spy images reveal a number of design cues that appear to be carried over from the concept model. The sharply sloping front and rear windscreens along with a thick C-pillar are among the prominent styling elements visible on the prototype. However, some of the more dramatic design features from the concept appear to have been toned down for the production version.

At the front, the test vehicle retains a stepped bumper design, although the lighting elements appear to differ slightly from the concept version. The prototype also features conventional wing mirrors instead of the camera-based units shown earlier.

Other visible elements include air inlets on the front bumper, flush door handles and large aero-style wheels. A side step is also visible on the test vehicle. The rear design and cabin layout could not be clearly seen in the spy images, but the production version may feature some revisions compared to the concept.

Inside the cabin, the BE.07 could feature a dashboard layout similar to Mahindra’s newer electric models. The concept had previewed a triple-screen setup stretching across the dashboard, similar to what is offered on the XEV 9e and XEV 9S.

Although the SUV appears larger than the BE 6, it is expected to remain a five-seat model with a conventional SUV body style. The concept version measured 4,565 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,660 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm.

Battery options for the production model are likely to be shared with Mahindra’s existing born-electric vehicles. This could mean battery packs ranging between 59 kWh and 79 kWh.

The final production model may not retain the BE.07 name when it reaches the market. However, the SUV is expected to be positioned as an important volume product in Mahindra’s EV lineup.

During a recent earnings call, Mahindra executive director and CEO Rajesh Jejurikar indicated that the model could become a strong contributor to the company’s future sales alongside its current electric offerings.
