Mahindra’s smallest offering yet is all set to take centre stage later this week with an official announcement scheduled on 18th December. While we expect to get a glimpse of the model in sketches and nameplate at the event, the automaker has officially provided the first glimpse to its upcoming offering in a teaser image, revealing some interesting details about the sub compact utility vehicle.

The Mahindra KUV100 (meaning Kompact Utility Vehicle) as it will be officially called, will be taking the fight to the highly popular hatchback segment. From the teaser image, we can deduce that the KUV100 will come with LED DRLs, faux front skid plate, sculpted bonnet for a masculine profile, sweptback headlamps and a wide grille connecting the two ends. Further, the teaser also shows the presence of roof rails while the ground clearance is around 200 mm, making the model capable of tackling any terrain.

Inside the cabin, we expect the Mahindra KUV100 to take notes from the TUV300 with a pleasing design language and appreciable plastic quality on offer. Space will be maximised with bench style seating in the front row as well with the gearshift knob integrated into the dashboard. The car is expected to come with all the modern day essentials including USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity while ABS, dual front airbags and parking sensors will be offered on the top variants.

Making things interesting, power on the Mahindra KUV100 will come from the newly developed 1.2-litre petrol motor while the 1.5-litre diesel is also said to be on offer. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and possibly an AMT unit. Positioned below the TUV300, prices will be extremely competitive on the smallest Mahindra starting from nearly Rs. 5 lakhs (ex-showroom) as the model will lock horns against the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, Chevrolet Beat and the likes in the segment. Make sure to stay tuned to us on the 18th for all updates.
