Mahindra Thar 5 Door Prototype

Mahindra Thar 5 Door to get all-LED lights

Mahindra Thar 5 Door is one of the most anticipated products next year. The 3 Door version is already very popular and manages to sell around 5000 units a month, which is a big achievement for a lifestyle SUV. The long wheelbase version with 5 doors is currently in its final stages of testing as they plan to launch it by mid-2024.

These clear spy shots of the prototype reveal new details of the Thar 5 Door. First thing you will notice is the new LED headlight cluster with projector units. The bigger Thar will get new LED DRLs as well along with a redesigned grille to differentiate the two.

From the side profile, of course, you will notice the much longer design and additional doors. The rear door gets a pillar-mounted handle. Even the side steps look bigger to help in better ingress. Mahindra might offer new alloy wheel designs with the 5 door Thar. The rear profile doesn’t get any significant changes apart from the new LED tail lights.

You can expect some minor tweaks on the inside including new larger touchscreen infotainment system with updated UI, rear parking camera, sunroof, pillar mounted grab handles at the front and rear, new front arm rest, etc.

Engine options are expected to be the same. It will be equipped with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and the 2.2-litre diesel unit. Mahindra will be offering the bigger Thar with both automatic and manual transmission options along with 4×4 and 4×2 options.

We believe it will sell in good numbers since it is a more practical version of the 3 Door Thar, which is already very popular amongst off-road enthusiasts and the young crowd.
