Mahindra has announced a life style product for the youth of the country. Presenting it as a compact SUV which would come with a sub 4-metre length, the company is planning to launch the Quanto some where around third week of September, this year. The compact SUV which has been named as ‘Quanto’ (derived from the word which conveys space and power, it would provide to the driver), is based on the Ingenio platform which is also seen on the Xylo MPV. Quanto would carry a rugged brand personality which is the DNA of the Mahindra SUVs, the company claims.

“We expect the Quanto to offer an exciting upgrade at a premium to customers who are otherwise looking for premium diesel hatchbacks or entry level diesel sedans”, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Mahindra and Mahindra, said.

The Mahindra Quanto gives a very strong value proposition to its customers which talks about design, performance and features. The product has been developed with due importance given to the feedback from the customers. Lot of research was conducted to give the best to the customers, Mahindra said in a statement. Only after it is launched and we see it on the roads, we will be able to comment on its performance and see if it has lived up to its promise. The company has targeted it towards those weekenders who are looking for a car with easy maneuverability, rough-road capability and of-course a compact vehicle.

The Mahindra Quanto will be available with a diesel engine only. The 3-cylinder diesel motor is expected to produce close to 100 BHP of power and will have twin-turbochargers. There will be atleast 4 variants on offer, with the top model loaded with all the bells and whistles. Mahindra will offer the basic variant of the Quanto at around Rs. 5 lakhs, with the top model retailing at around Rs. 7 lakhs.
