With a 1.6-litre diesel engine, a 1.5-litre petrol motor is also expected to be added to the Ciaz line up.

Maruti Ciaz SHVS Long Term Review
Maruti launched the mild-hybrid SHVS technology in the Ciaza year back

The Maruti Ciaz is highly expected to get more powerful engine options in its line up. The added options will be 1.6-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engines. As we have earlier reported that the Ciaz will be shifted to dealerships in coming few months, the new engine options are likely to be included at the same time. Also, it will get a minor nip and tuck as a part of a facelift next year.

Ciaz is one of the most successful launches by Maruti that has been in the list of India’s highest selling vehicles. Customers have happily accepted it for its comfort, features, and aggressive pricing. However, customers have also missed having bigger engines in the car. Therefore, to satisfy customer demands Maruti will add a 1.6-litre engine option to its diesel variants and a 1.5-litre engine to the petrol trims.

At present, Maruti offers a 1.3-litre diesel engine which produces 89 HP of power and 200 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre petrol engine capable of 91 HP and 130 Nm. The expected diesel engine option for the new Ciaz is similar to that of the S-Cross DDiS 320.

It is expected, by April 2017, that the Maruti Ciaz will get a mild facelift and will be sold under the NEXA banner with added engine options.
