Maruti Suzuki will inspect and replace the airbag control unit

Maruti Suzuki recalls over 17,000 cars over faulty airbags

Maruti Suzuki recalls 17,362 units manufactured between 8th December, 2022 and 12th January, 2023. The affected cars include Maruti Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara.

There is a faulty airbag controller placed in these cars. The automaker will recall, inspect and replace the airbag control unit free of cost. This faulty part may lead to non-deployment of airbags and seat belt pretensioners in case of an accident.

Maruti Suzuki has also cautioned the owners to not use the affected cars until the part has been replaced. The carmaker will contact the owners individually.

If you own Maruti Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno or Grand Vitara and you think your vehicle has been manufactured between 8th December, 2022 and 12th January, 2023 and you have not been contacted, then you should personally contact the dealership and get your car checked.

A few days back Maruti also announced a recall for Grand Vitara, XL6, Ertiga and Ciaz due to faulty child part in seat belt’s shoulder height adjuster assembly.

Couple of months back they also recalled Wagon R, Ignis and Celerio to rectify a defect in the rear brake assembly pins.
