The car will have a 6-seat layout and receives noticeable cosmetic and feature upgrades over the Ertiga.

Maruti XL6 Specs
Will be sold from Maruti’s premium Nexa dealerships

Maruti Suzuki will launch a 6-seater passenger vehicle on 21st August 2019. Barely a few weeks before the official reveal, spy images have surfaced online. The test mule holds a Maruti Suzuki Nexa badging, confirming sale from the brand’s premium dealerships.

Christened as the Maruti Suzuki XL6, the MPV borrows quite a few design cues from the Ertiga on which it is based. What’s different is a new front styling highlighted with a bigger grille and sized up LED headlamps and bumpers. Black cladding on the wheel arches, front and rear skid plates differentiate the two models. The pictures hint that the XL6 might run with slightly better ground clearance than the standard Ertiga. Keeping these changes aside, the new Maruti offering retains the same alloy wheels, tail-lamps, doors and tailgate as the standard MPV.

The cabin will offer a 6-seat layout with 2 standalone chairs for the second row. Nexa badging might help the XL6 to get some premium touches along with the company’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system.

Engine duties on the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be undertaken by the carmaker’s latest 1.5-litre petrol engine seen on the Ertiga and Ciaz. It churns out 104.7 PS of power and a peak torque of 138 Nm. A BS6-compliant alternative of this engine might debut with the new car. While a diesel engine variant is highly unlikely, a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox might be on offer later. Till then, buyers will have to make do with just a 5-speed manual transmission.

Expect the Maruti Suzuki XL6 to be priced a little above the Ertiga’s price bracket (Rs. 7.45-9.96 lakhs, ex-showroom) and rival the Mahindra Marazzo.
