Maruti Suzuki’s new 6-seater MPV is set for a launch on 21st August 2019. While a couple of previous spy shots gave away the vehicle’s body type, new interior images have added more information in the mix. Though the XL6 is largely based on the Ertiga, it does not get the latter’s traditional interior. The MPV will be a 6-seater in a 2+2+2 configuration with 2 captain seats in the 2nd row. The interior follows a dark theme with black leather upholstery.

The interior spy images reveal a 4-speed automatic transmission, as well as a black leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel. The SmartPlay infotainment system gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation, plus a rear parking camera.

The Maruti XL6 underpins the 5th generation Heartect platform also seen on the company’s other offerings like the new Wagon R, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, Baleno and Ignis. The previously spied test vehicle carried a Nexa badging confirming that the new MPV will be sold through Maruti’s premium dealerships.

The Maruti XL6 gets a new face unlike any of its siblings in the domestic portfolio. The redesigned headlamps give it a sleek look while the trapezoidal grille takes centre stage. The bumper accommodates the skid plate and the blackened, rectangle-shaped fog lamps housing along. Black cladding is visible all around the body while the rear is largely similar to the Ertiga. The car runs on black 15-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, it gets the same 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 104.7 PS and 138 Nm of peak torque. It will be coupled with either a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Claimed fuel efficiency is expected to be around 19-20 km/l for the manual and 18 km/l for the automatic.
