Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe Front Profile
Do not mistake it for a poser with that coupe body since it has serious poke

Mercedes-AMG has launched the GLE 53 Coupe in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.20 crores (ex-showroom, India, except Kerala).

A replacement for the GLE 43 Coupe that was earlier sold in India, the SUV becomes the first “53” model to be launched in India and an AMG one at that.

Since it is an AMG model, what powers the car matters the most. Under the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 sits a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol motor that makes a total of 435 HP and 520 Nm.

It is coupled with a 48 V mild-hybrid system, EQ Boost in Mercedes speak, that can offer up to 22 HP and 250 Nm when required. Transmission offered with the engine is a AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic unit, which send power from the engine to all four wheels.

Claimed top speed of the coupe SUV is 250 km/hr, while the car can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 5.3 seconds. It also has sportier suspension with adaptive dampers and AMG-specific upgrades like beefier brakes and drive programmes.

Design-wise the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe is similar to the standard GLE, but gets that sloping roofline and a different rear end.

At the front, there is the Panamericana grille, redesigned front bumper with larger intakes, while at the sides there are 21-inch alloy wheels. Go to the back and one can find the integrated boot spoiler and rear diffuser with quad exhaust pipes.

Being 20 mm larger than its predecessor, the GLE 53 Coupe is roomier and even offers 650-litres of cargo space. However, due to the sloping roofline, one has to think about how to use the available area in case they want to pack it to the brim.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe price gets customers a new AMG-specific steering wheel, 12.3-inch infotainment system with latest MBUX suite, “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant, 12.3-inch virtual cockpit with AMG-specific interface, head-up display, wireless charging, 4-zone climate control, 13-speaker Burmester sound system, panoramic sunroof and electric sunblinds.

Other features that the car comes with are AMG front seats that are ventilated, AIRMATIC suspension, electric tailgate, performance exhaust system, Active Ride Control system and a whole host of safety kit including 9 airbags, magic vision control, blind spot assist, adaptive light beam assist, among others.

Exterior colour options offered on the SUV are eight in number and they are – Brilliant Blue, Cavanstic Blue, Emerald Green, Hyacinth Red, Mojave Silver, Obsidian Black, Polar White and Selenite Grey.

With the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe price being high, customers will likely want to customise it to their tastes. Mercedes knows that and thus it offers personalisation options for its customers.
