2021 MG Hector Facelift Front
The car received a revised front fascia in early January

MG is said to be all set to launch a CVT automatic variant of the Hector SUV, that received a facelift very recently, soon.

The CVT gearbox would be paired with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. However, the non-mild-hybrid version of the car with that engine can already be had with a DCT at present.

Thus, it is likely that the petrol variant of the SUV that features the mild-hybrid tech which will gain the CVT, for it can only be had with a 6-speed manual now.

However, MG might surprise us by dropping the DCT altogether, or offering both DCT and CVT with the non-hybrid turbo petrol, although the latter seems very unlikely. It would be wise to equip the diesel variants with an auto too.

This new MG Hector CVT variant could be launched as early as next week, and will cost more than the equivalent manual variant and possibly along the same lines as the non-hybrid petrol DCT.

It is likely that MG will offer the CVT only on the top 2 variants, namely Smart and Sharp, like it does with the DCT, while entry-level models will be manual only.
