2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800

MV Agusta’s Rivale 800 made its world debut at the 2012 EICMA Motorcycle Show held in Milan, Italy. Every year at the International Motorcycle Show in Milan, one debut model receives the title of “Most Beautiful Bike” by spectators. The winner of most beautiful motorcycle title is selected by the thousands of visitors who attend the show and this year the MV Agusta Rivale 800 was voted the winner by 35.5 per cent of the 15000+ visitors.

Ducati’s 2013 Hypermotard SP won the second position managing to get 22.9 per cent of total votes. In the third place was the BMW R 1200 GS rugged touring motorcycle which was the only German motorcycle among the top six winners managing 15.5 per cent of the total votes. The winner of the 2011 EICMA most beautiful motorcycle title was the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale. The award ceremony was held on the final day of EICMA 2012, at the booth of Motociclismo.

The MV Agusta Rivale 800 in its first appearance has already captured the imagination of motorcyclists around the world. With this model, MV Agusta has made a revolution to this market segment, featuring original technical concepts combined with styling that respects MV Agusta’s heritage and exceeding in new design parameters and performance. Weight, power and electronics come together in a unique and perfect package redefining the concept of an extreme motorbike, and making it the absolute benchmark within its segment.

The Rivale 800 is powered by a 798 cc, in-line, three-cylinder engine with counter-rotating crankshaft generating 125 HP. The bike uses steel trellis frame in combination with two aluminum alloy plates at the rear and features single sided swing arm. The suspensions featured are Marzocchi at the front and Sachs at the rear that are fully adjustable, offering spring pre-load, hydraulic compression and rebound damping, while brake calipers are four piston radial mounted, from Brembo, with the font discs measuring 320 mm and the rear 220 mm.

The MV Agusta Rivale 800 will only come to the market during the second half of 2013 and will be available for a price of €10,990 (Rs. 7,72,189/-). This motorcycle is not expected to hit Indian shores any time soon.
