Betting big on the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra has lined up quite a few products over the next 1-1.5 years. First among the new cars will be an MPV, codenamed U321 that will go against the Toyota Innova and the Maruti Ertiga. Post that, the carmaker will drive in a compact SUV based on the SsangYong Tivoli. In early 2019, the company is expected to introduce its flagship SUV, the XUV700.

It isn’t only the new launches that Mahindra is busy with. The company has also announced that its existing products, the Scorpio and the XUV500 will receive full model changes by 2020 and the third product to receive a full model change is most likely to be the Bolero. The Scorpio received a facelift recently while the XUV500 facelift is expected to be launched sometime next month.

Apart from the new launches and updating the existing car portfolio, the homegrown automaker also plans to launch a range of new petrol and CNG powertrains which includes a new 1.5-litre and a 2.0-litre petrol engine and also a 600cc petrol motor for smaller LCVs. Currently, it only has a 1.2-litre and a 2.2-litre petrol engine. Along with the new petrol engines, the company will also introduce a new 4-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine (codenamed D15) which is likely to debut in the S201. The 1.5-litre petrol engine mentioned above will also make it to the S201.

With BS-6 emission norms coming into effect from 2020, the automaker is ready with the required technology and will introduce BS-6 compliant vehicles well ahead of the deadline. Come 2020, the NuvoSport and the Verito Vibe are likely to be axed from Mahindra’s portfolio but as per an investors report released by the company, the Xylo is not likely to be discontinued.
