Nissan Note Spied In India
The spotted Nissan Note is probably the top end trim

The Nissan Note has been spotted testing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. MotorBeam reader Saran Jawahar spotted the car testing and clicked the pictures for us.

The premium hatchback segment in the country has grown leaps and bounds with players like the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 averaging over 10,000 units a month. So, Nissan sees an opportunity in this segment to grow and so do other manufacturers like Tata and Ford. Both the car manufacturers have started working on their premium hatchbacks and we were the first to show you the spy shots of the Tata premium hatchback (codenamed X451) doing its test runs in India.

The spotted test mule wears a black paint and is most probably the top-end trim. The car has a distinctive shape to the tail-lights which seem like LED units, the rear windscreen gets a wiper, there are chrome door handles, rear parking sensors and alloy wheels. Also, the alloy wheels look identical to the ones seen on the Sunny. The hatchback also wears a Medalist badge on the boot lid.

Globally, the car is offered with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Nissan could plonk the 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel motors that do duty on the Micra and Sunny. However, there is no official word from the automaker regarding this. The main USP of the Note has to be its cabin space.

Previously there were reports that the Japanese carmaker is evaluating the launch of Note e-Power (electric version of the Note hatchback) in India. However, there is no e-Power badging found on the rear and sides of the spotted car.
