Nissan’s C-Segment SUV Spotted Testing, Based On The Renault Duster
Nissan plans to launch a new C-segment SUV in India by mid-2026, based on the Renault Duster’s platform. Recently, test mules of the SUV have been undergoing road tests in heavy camouflage. This new model will rival the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, and Volkswagen Taigun.
Styling Highlights
Despite the camouflage, the test vehicle displayed several visible design cues. The front features a sculpted bonnet and a large Patrol-inspired grille. The flat, bold front fascia enhances the SUV’s strong road presence.
The side profile shows 5-spoke alloy wheels and flared wheel arches, giving it a muscular stance. The SUV’s silhouette closely resembles the one Nissan has been teasing. Rear design highlights include rectangular taillights, roof rails, and a shark-fin antenna.
Interior
Interior details remain undisclosed, but the new SUV may feature a layout similar to the new Renault Duster. Nissan is expected to offer a modern, functional dashboard. Updated infotainment and comfort features could also be included in the SUV.
Engine
Powertrain details remain unconfirmed, but the SUV will likely receive petrol-only options. The engine choices may include turbocharged units shared with the Renault Duster. A diesel variant seems unlikely at this stage.
Features
The test model appeared to lack ADAS features, a key tech in today’s segment. However, Nissan may include ADAS in production versions. This would help it better compete with feature-rich rivals in the C-segment SUV market.
Outlook
Nissan marks a strategic comeback in India’s fast-growing mid-size SUV market with this SUV. Based on a proven platform, it holds promise. If priced competitively, it could re-establish Nissan’s presence in the country.
