Looking to build its product range in India, Land Rover has imported a Range Rover Sport SVR and it is likely that the vehicle will be launched in the near future.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest Land Rover yet

Land Rover India currently has the Freelander 2, Discovery, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover in its portfolio. It seems that the company is planning to add one more product to its line up. The company has imported one unit of the Range Rover Sport SVR (Special Vehicle Racing), claimed to be the fastest Land Rover ever. It is basically a performance-oriented version of the regular Range Rover Sport and also comes with sportier cosmetic bits added to the exteriors. The SUV is also a blast when it comes to acceleration and overall performance.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine which is a V8 unit. The engine pumps out 550 PS of power and 680 Nm of torque. The powerplant is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. While the SVR’s top speed is claimed to be 260 km/hr, it accelerates from standstill to 100 km/hr in just 4.7 seconds. Its maximum fuel tank capacity is a massive 105-litres. Under combined urban and extra urban driving conditions, the SVR gives out a claimed fuel efficiency of 7.69 km/l. The SUV also has wading capabilities up to a depth of 850 mm.

Talking about features, the Range Rover SVR is loaded with 20-inch Blue Brembo brake calipers, 21-inch wheels, heated windscreen and rear window, Follow-Me-Home lights, heated off-screen wiper, automatic wipers, acoustic laminated windscreen, laminated front door, toughened rear door and quarter light glass. Differentiating it from the regular Range Rover Sport are new SVR front and rear bumpers, grille, bonnet vents, SVR fender and fender vents, SVR spoiler, rear wheel arch extensions, gloss black diffuser with quad exhaust pipes and SVR badging on the boot.

The Range Rover Sport SVR has been imported to India at a cost of Rs. 53 lakhs but after factoring in all other costs and profits, we expect Land Rover to launch the performance packed SUV at a price no less than Rs. 2.5 crores (ex-showroom). There are hardly any performance SUVs in India apart from the Mercedes G63 AMG, GL63 AMG and ML63 AMG and these are priced much lower and hence the Range Rover Sport SVR won’t really have any direct rivals.
