Renault is on a launch spree in India. The company has launched three new vehicles in the past 12 months and plans to add many more in the near future. The next launch is the Duster compact SUV, which will be followed by the Scala (re-badged Sunny) in October/November 2012. Post these launches, Renault will launch a multi-utility vehicle (MUV), which will be priced above the Duster. The company has not revealed any details about this particular model and all remains a suspense till date. But what could Renault be upto?

Going by Renault’s past of renaming and re-branding Nissan vehicles, we have a hint of doubt that the Evalia MPV could be re-badged as a Renault. There is absolutely no word on such a thing happening and we are just speculating here. However such kind of a vehicle is highly probable and Nissan might also launch its own version of the Duster compact SUV. These re-badged vehicles will only make it to the market in the second half of 2013 and will be priced some what similar to the original models.

The Nissan Evalia will be sold as the Ashok Leyland Stile in 2013, so there is no reason why a Renault badged Evalia won’t make it to the the French automaker’s showrooms. The Nissan Evalia is 7-seater MPV which is manufactured in collaboration with Ashok Leyland. Power comes in through the 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine which will be in the step 4 tune of 108 BHP of power and 240 Nm of torque. Nissan will be launching the Evalia this festive season and is expected to price it right above the Sunny. The Evalia will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova.

What has more appeal? A Renault badged Evalia or a Nissan branded Duster?
