Renault Zoe EV Spied
The EV space in India is slowly starting to bloom courtesy the widespread push for EVs by the Indian Government

The Renault Zoe EV (electric vehicle) has been spied undergoing test runs as a part of Bengaluru-based electric cab aggregator Lithium Urban Technologies’ fleet. The company currently uses the Mahindra e2o Plus vehicles for rendering services. The French automaker will be showcasing the Zoe EV at the 2018 Auto Expo as a technology demonstrator. The car claims a range of up to 400 kms (under New European Driving Cycle) and a 0-80 percent charging time of 65 minutes using quick charge. The company claims a real-world driving range of 300 kms and a full charge time of 8-9 hours via a standard 7kW charger.

The hatchback comes powered by a new 41 kWh battery, up from the 22 kWh unit used in the previous model and comes equipped with features like heated seats, push button start/stop, leather upholstery and rear parking camera. EVs have gained significant importance and have been showcased at most of the global auto shows last year and the 2018 Auto Expo will get its fair share of EVs too. With Renault, other manufacturers like BMW, Hyundai, Mahindra, Mercedes, Nissan and Tata are likely to showcase at least one EV.

Renault is evaluating the launch prospects of both the Zoe as well as the Kwid electric in India. That said, the company also adds that a firm EV roadmap by the government and improvement in charging infrastructure are key to them introducing EVs in the country.
