Royal Enfield is considering a new 250cc model for the Indian market.

The Interceptor and Continental GT 650 received good response in the market

Royal Enfield launched a couple of new motorcycles last year in India but overall prices of bikes have increased significantly in the past couple of years due to a lot of reasons. While RE was seeing a good double digit growth all this while, sales have now been falling and volumes are declining.

Royal Enfield is now looking to launch a new 250cc motorcycle with the hope of gaining some of the fallen market share that has also happened due to so many new products arriving in the market. The new 250cc bike is being studied upon by the Indian R&D centre of the company as the UK centre is working on bigger capacity bikes.

Not only this, Royal Enfield is also looking to launch no-frills versions of its bikes. These basic trims of the bikes will be a good option for people who are on a budget and don’t want extra features. Even for people who are looking to customise their bikes, these no-frills models might make sense.

Prices of bikes increased due to the transition to BS4, hike in insurance costs and the introduction of ABS on all models. In the price bracket of Rs. 1-1.5 lakhs, a lot of models were launched in recent times and many of them have been crowd-pullers.
