The success story of Royal Enfield is very well known to the people of India. The company has been growing month on month for some time now. They Classic 350 also broke into the top 10 selling bikes’ list for the month of December 2016. Royal Enfield managed to sell 1,70,292 units between November 2016 to January 2017 as compared to the 1,18,489 units that were sold by TVS (domestic motorcycle sales).

The fall in the sales number might be because of demonetisation, as TVS are a major brand in the commuter segment and Royal Enfield does not offer any such bike. The segment in which RE operates is completely different from the one TVS is present in. The Apache maker has seen a major drop in sales since November 2016 but that hasn’t been the case with Royal Enfield. Many manufacturers have seen a drop in sales who are mainly focused on the commuter segment.

Royal Enfield fetched 55,843 units, 56,316 units and 58,133 units for the months of November, December and January respectively. In the same period, TVS managed to sell 45,359 units, 37,136 units and 35,994 units for the month of November, December and January respectively. The Bullet maker still trails the top three manufacturers by a big margin. The top three automakers are Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Honda 2-Wheelers.

Royal Enfield recently announced their Q3 results, at that time they said that this year they will launch just one product. They also plan to bring in variants of the models that are currently on sale (BS-IV). The British brand is riding high on the success of their Classic 350.
