Suzuki Australia has confirmed that its quarter-litre motorcycle will be unveiled in October at the 2016 Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne. The motorcycle was spotted last year in China and has been long awaited as Suzuki has a big gap to fill in its portfolio. The bike will be competing with the Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3.

Likely to be called the Suzuki Gixxer 250, it comes with sporty styling bits and shares a lot of resemblance with the bigger GSX-R range. The motorbike is also expected to share some bits with the Gixxer 155 and SF too. As visible in the images, the quarter-litre machine has borrowed the instrument cluster from the baby Gixxer.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 could be powered by a 248cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a 6-speed gearbox (the same motor used on the Inazuma). For the Indian market, a single-cylinder engine is rumoured. It also gets a steel frame and conventional forks. The Gixxer 250 also gets clip-on handlebars and split seats. Full details about the bike will be revealed at its official unveil and Suzuki is likely to launch it in India next year.
