Things are certainly auspicious this festive season at Suzuki Motorcycle India with its highly popular Gixxer 155cc motorcycle crossing the 10,000 units sales mark in October 2015. The Gixxer achieved a 15 percent increase in October 2015 sales figures as compared to September 2015. This is for the first time the bike has crossed the 10,000 unit sales mark since its launch in September 2014.

Sales for the Suzuki Gixxer steadily increased over the months and the motorcycle has firmly made its position as one of the top 5 best-selling 150cc bikes in the country. The arrival of the full faired Gixxer SF further helped garner volumes for the automaker with the Hayabusa inspired styling giving a stylish appeal to the model.

The Suzuki Gixxer draws power from a 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve engine tuned for 14.8 PS at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike comes equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology that helps return a fuel efficiency of 63.5 km/l. Over the months, the Gixxer received constant upgrades especially after the initial rusting issue while a dual-tone paint scheme was also introduced on the street-fighter recently.

In terms of upgrades, Suzuki has planned to equip the Gixxer and SF models with a rear disc brake as an optional variant that is sorely missed and was caught testing last month. A launch can be expected by this year end or early 2016 and will intensify sales for the automaker. Not only the Gixxer, but overall sales for Suzuki’s two-wheeler models cumulatively increased to 35,936 units in October this year including exports as opposed to 31,240 units in September 2015.
