Tata Altroz Racer to compete head on with Hyundai i20 N Line

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch its latest offering, the Tata Altroz Racer, in the upcoming weeks. The Altroz Racer was initially showcased at the last year’s Auto Expo and later made a reappearance with some tweaks at this year’s Bharat Mobility Show. While Tata had remained tight-lipped about its launch plans, it’s now confirmed that the Altroz Racer will soon hit the market.

Set to become the new range-topping variant, the Altroz Racer promises to pack a punch under the hood with its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque, offering a significant boost in power compared to its standard variant, the Altroz iTurbo. This engine, reminiscent of the one found in the Nexon, is expected to be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Altroz Racer isn’t just about performance, it’s also set to raise the bar in terms of features and aesthetics. Sporting a distinctive exterior with dual-tone paint options, racing stripes and ‘Racer’ badging. Inside, buyers can expect a plethora of upgrades, including a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen display, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, heads-up display and voice-assisted sunroof.

The Altroz Racer will be offering six airbags and ESC as standard. However, these enhancements come at a cost, and potential buyers should anticipate a notable increase in prices.

In terms of competition, the Altroz Racer is poised to challenge rivals like the Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a compelling alternative in the turbo petrol hatchback segment. Additionally, depending on pricing, it may also compete against the Boosterjet variants of Maruti Fronx.
