Tata Gravitas 8
The wait will come to an end in a few months’ time

Tata Motors is likely to set the asking price of the Gravitas from around Rs. 15 lakhs (ex-showroom) when it finally hits the roads early next year.

Showcased at the Auto Expo this year, it was scheduled to be launched during the festive season. Suffice it to say the SUV has seen its fair share of delays this year due to the pandemic and the resultant supply chain disruptions.

The 7-seater version of the Harrier will be based on the OMEGARC platform and will be 63 mm longer and 80 mm taller than the Harrier, however the wheelbase remains the same for both models at 2741 mm.

Both SUVs will carry the same design, with the Gravitas only differing from the Harrier at the rear, sporting a stepped roof and a larger overhang. Inside, the SUV will get a refreshed interior and will likely have additional features as well.

It must be noted that the Tata Motors Gravitas price will eclipse that of its 5-seater sibling. The Harrier is between from Rs. 13.84 lakhs and Rs. 20.30 lakhs (prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Under the bonnet will reside a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine putting out 170 PS and 350 Nm and it will come mated to a 6-speed MT, while an automatic gearbox option will also be offered.

Rivals to the car would be MG Hector Plus and upcoming cars like the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and 7-seater version of the Creta.
