With the AMT version, Tata Nexon will appeal to a wider set of audience

Tata Nexon AMT features and specifications have been officially revealed by the company. Both the petrol and diesel powertrains of the vehicle will get a 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) which Tata likes to call ‘HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears’! Details regarding the launch of the Nexon AMT variant haven’t been shared by the automaker yet.

Visually there are no changes between the Nexon MT and Nexon AMT apart from the variant badging on the boot lid. The automaker has introduced Etna Orange with Sonic Silver finished roof as a new exterior paint scheme for a dual tone look. The same was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year.

Power and torque output of the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engines remains the same as that of the manual transmission variants. In the ‘Auto’ mode, the driver can choose from the Eco, City and Sport modes while Tiptronic or manual gear selection works in Sport mode.

While the company hasn’t specified the various trims that are available, going by the images and the official communication, the Nexon AMT appears to based on the XZ+ trim which means that it will get features such as projector headlights with LED DRLs, front and rear fog lamps, 6.5-inch ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. The AMT variants are likely to command a premium of around Rs. 50,000/- over the manual gearbox versions. Expect the Nexon AMT to go on sale in the coming weeks.
