Tata Motors’ third launch under the HorizoNEXT programme will be the Zica that was very much under wraps, until now. Ahead of the official unveil scheduled for next week, the production ready model has been finally caught in all its glory completely undisguised, revealing every cosmetic detail you need to know about. Styled at Tata’s design centres in the UK and Italy, the good looking hatchback spells a good looking future for the company.

The 2016 Tata Zica witnesses a complete overhaul in design and clearly a lot of thought has gone into it. The tall boy design has been done away with in favour of a well-proportioned stance while the front fascia emerges as bold and striking. The hatchback gets a honeycomb mesh grille and houses a big ‘Tata’ logo. The headlight cluster is protruding and gets blacked out interiors with neat chrome elements for a premium effect. The clamshell shaped bonnet gets creases on either side while the bumper gets a wide air intake with circular fog lamps on either side covered with a chrome bezel.

Snapped in the top spec trim, the Tata Zica gets alloy wheels while the ORVMs get integrated turn indicators and are shared with the Zest and Bolt models. Further, the hatchback gets a receding shoulder line starting from the front fender and merges into the wraparound petal-shaped tail lighting cluster that gets LED effect. Lastly, the Zica gets a roof spoiler with a centre stop light, a curved windscreen with a rear wiper. You also get reverse parking sensors on the simply styled bumper. While the interiors were not snapped, the hatchback gets the all black treatment and will be loaded with features.

In terms of power, the Tata Zica will be getting two newly developed engines under the hood including a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill expected to churn out around 85 HP and 110 Nm of torque. The other unit is said to be a 1.05-litre diesel expected to produce around 65 HP and 140 Nm of torque and will be tuned for high fuel efficiency in excess of 25 km/l. Prices are expected to be extremely competitive starting from Rs. 3.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Zica will go on sale in January 2016.
