The month of June has not been too generous in terms of car sales, as most manufacturers have seen a slump in their figures. Maruti still asserts its dominance over the market and the Renault Kwid seems to have recovered from its slowdown in the month of May.

Top 20 Selling Cars June 16
Maruti still dominates the top sales charts for the month of June

A car can be as good as it gets. But the number that matters most to the manufacturers is the sales figure. Every month we analyse the performance of all the car manufacturers and rank their products in a top 10 list. What’s better than a top 10 list though? A top 20 list of course. Let’s take a look at the top 20 selling cars for the month of June 2016.

Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest car manufacturer, and nothing shows its dominance on our market as a top sales chart. The Alto still stays king of the hill, while the Swift follows close behind. While last month we saw a clean podium sweep by the Marutis, this month, the Grand i10 topples the Wagon R from its third spot and comes in after the Alto and Swift DZire. The Wagon R comes down to the 4th place, followed by the Renault Kwid, which has recovered from its sales slump in the last month. The Swift hatchback is right on the Kwid’s tail after recording a fall in its sales.

The Hyundai Elite i20 manages to stand its ground at number 7, and is followed by the Toyota Innova and the Hyundai Creta all of which have seen a decent growth over the month. The Baleno on number 10 records the highest drop in sales (30.36%). Maruti’s Vitara Brezza, Celerio and the Omni too have recorded slowdowns in their sales. On the 14th position, we have the Maruti Ritz, which has practically doubled its numbers over the month recording a growth of 94.84%, and is the only Maruti product on this list to show show a growth.

The Ford EcoSport too has performed well in the month of June and is followed by yet another Maruti product, the Eeco, which has recorded a fall in its sales. The Tata Tiago is on a steady march upwards registering a healthy growth of 27.93%. It is followed by the Hyundai Xcent and Mahindra Bolero; both recording a fall in their sales. The last spot is occupied by the Hyundai Eon, sales for which remain more or less stagnant.

The month of June however has not been favourable for the industry, as it records an overall slump coming from the month of May, with the highest loser being Maruti.
