Battle of the C-segment sedans is getting quite boring now thanks to unchanged market trends and demands of customers. The Honda City and Maruti Ciaz lead the pack, as usual.

C-Segment Sedan Sales August 2015
Sales of C-Segment sedans in India for the month of August 2015

There is something about the Indian auto market that we look forward to every month. Sales figures! While most segments see similar trends each passing month, there are some other segments where in the battle is quite interesting and something to look forward to. The C-segment in India gets as many as 11 choices but are all of them selling in even half decent numbers? No. This segment sees very similar trends every month and this time too things are pretty much the same as the previous month.

The Japanese are at the top with the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Toyota Etios occupying the top 3 positions. The City continues its stride as the market king while the Ciaz is closely following. The Etios sells in 2000-odd units each month and most of these sales are coming from the commercial markets like taxis, rental services, hotels, etc. The Hyundai Verna is lagging far behind its rivals due to the fact that it is quite old now. The Vento and Rapid siblings come in at 5th and 6th position respectively. The Vento recently got a facelift while the Rapid is available with attractive offers.

The Chevrolet Sail clocks in 246 units while the Nissan Sunny and Renault Scala continue to remain some of the most underrated offerings in the Indian market. The Sunny offers a lot of space, comfort and some decent features for its price and yet it doesn’t cut it with buyers. The Fiat Linea is quite old now, while the Ford Fiesta has now been discontinued from our market. All in all, market trends are quite the same and there are hardly any new C-segment sedans coming up in the next few months so things will predictably remain quite similar.
