The sales numbers for this month indicate a mixed bag of falling volumes for some companies while there is a rise in sales for the others.

The undisputed king of this segment continues to be the Royal Enfield Class 350 that sells almost four times its closest competitor, the Royal Enfield Bullet 350. The sales volume for the Classic 350 fell by 1% but the number of units sold continue to be above the 50K mark at 50,426 units. The second positioned Bullet 350 on the other hand saw a 2% increase in its sales with 13,029 units sold in June 2018.

Bajaj Auto too sees a collective rise in the sales of its Pulsar 180, NS 200 and RS 200 models. A 13% increase from the last month has totalled up to 12,045 units being sold in June. The fourth position is again occupied by a Bajaj motorcycle which is the Pulsar 220. The sales for this motorcycle increased by 9% and has taken the number from 6664 to 7259 units.

Royal Enfield again makes an appearance in fifth and sixth positions. While their Thunderbird 350 model’s sales increased by the highest percentage at 21%, the sixth ranked Classic 500 reduced in sales by 2%. In all, the Thunderbird 350 was bought by 5232 customers and the Classic 500 was bought by 2328 customers.

The cruiser bike from Bajaj, the Avenger 180 and Avenger 220 too rose in sales with 5463 units having been sold in total in June 2018. They are ranked seventh in the list. KTM makes an appearance in eighth position with their Duke 200 and RC 200 models together finding 2830 homes which is up by 11% compared to the previous month.

Ninth and tenth positions are occupied by the Yamaha FZ25 and the Bajaj Dominar respectively. Sales of both the motorcycles have risen. The FZ25 sold 2088 units which is an increase of 13% while the Dominar’s sales increased by 7% and it sold 1277 units compared to the month of May.

The bottom ten positions again sees a Royal Enfield with its Himalayan motorcycle sitting on eleventh position. Though it sold 942 units in June 2018, the sales volume fell by 12%. The KTM Duke 390 and RC 390 sold 702 units which is a 6% increase compared to the previous month. They are ranked twelfth in the list. The bottom three places see a new entry in the list with UM Renegade motorcycles. The company’s Commando, Sports and Classic models are placed eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth, respectively in the list.

The 200-500cc bikes segment sees outright domination by Royal Enfield motorcycles but overall sales of the bikes have fallen. They are followed by Bajaj motorcycles, all of which see a rise in their sales. Is the market seeing a shift or is this case applicable only for an isolated month, only time will tell.
