Only 2 cars in the list post YoY growth

Sitting on top of the compact sedan sales list for February 2021 is the Maruti Dzire that recorded 11,901 unit sales, more than double that of second-placed Honda Amaze (4939 units).

While the Dzire also saw its sales grow by 63 percent year-on-year (YoY), the same cannot be same about Honda’s compact sedan, for it witnessed a 15 percent drop in sales.

Up next is the Hyundai Aura which was driven home by 4300 people, followed by the Tata Tigor, which, despite posting a 148 percent sales growth, only managed to find 1939 takers.

Ford sold 399 units of its Aspire in February with a massive sales loss, even as total segment sales stood at 23,478 units with a 20 percent growth.

Compact SUVs have stolen buyers from this segment big time

Although C-segment sedan sales in February 2021 registered an overall growth rate of 31 percent YoY, the overall sales figure stood at only 7538 units.

The Honda City could only find 2524 takers this past month (101 percent growth), followed by the Hyundai Verna that sold 2047 times over, with a massive 259 percent growth.

While the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (1510 units) came third, its sales was down by 41 percent in February. However, Toyota’s Yaris, that comes next with 657 unit sales, posted a 21 percent sales growth.

In the last 2 places sit Skoda’s Rapid (614 units) and the Volkswagen Vento (186 units), both of which will be replaced by a new-generation model this year.

These cars only appeal to a limited number of buyers

Hyundai’s Elantra leads the D-segment sedan sales from its only competitor, the Skoda Octavia. While the South Korean car found 40 takers, only 2 people drove home the Czech carmaker’s product. Both, witnessed sales degrowth.

The Superb’s sales number might not be large, but at least it is pretty much consistent

The leader of the February 2021 premium sedan sales was once again the Superb from Skoda, as 235 units of the car was sold, as opposed to 15 units of its sole rival, the Toyota Camry.
