Since no car sales took place in April 2020, the March-April 2021 sales comparison has been used

UV sales in April 2021 was spearheaded by the Maruti Suzuki Eeco which registered sales of 11,469 units.

It was followed by another Maruti in the Ertiga that sold 8644 times over this past month, while the Mahindra Bolero (6152 units) came third.

Toyota’s top-seller for April, the Innova Crysta premium MPV took fourth place in the April 2021 UV sales list having registered sales of 3600 units.

Fifth-placed Maruti Suzuki XL6 found 3373 homes this past month, while Renault saw 2426 units of the Triber MPV leave its showrooms during the same period.

Kia India’s Carnival had a bit of a resurgence in April, as it found 301 buyers, which was much better than its 45 unit sales in March 2021.

Models occupying the last 3 spots in the April 2021 UV sales list are the Mahindra Marazzo (161 units), Datsun GO+ (31 units) and Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV (25 units).

Only 3 models recorded positive month-on-month growth in April and they are the Carnival (569 percent), XL6 (10 percent) and GO+ (3 percent).

Total sales of the vehicles in the segment stood at 36,182 units, which is a 16 percent MoM decline in sales.

With increased localisation, the Carnival’s asking price could come down further
