Toyota is planning to introduce a base-spec Yaris for fleet buyers.

2018 Toyota Yaris Review
The Yaris will be offered with a base spec for commercial segment

In a bid to increase volumes and market share in the country, Toyota is preparing to launch a base-spec Yaris for the commercial segment. The Japanese carmaker doesn’t offer any car for fleet buyers currently as the Etios has been discontinued.

The Toyota Yaris will get bare bones variant with a manual transmission and possibly CNG powertrain option for the fleet buyers. It comes with a single 1.5-litre petrol engine option.

Since the Toyota Etios has been discontinued, the Yaris is the only mass-market sedan for the company to be offered in the fleet segment.

They will possibly strip down the basic features offered in their entry level variant which includes projector headlamps, cooled glove box, height-adjustable driver’s seat, remote locking, all-round power windows, power adjustable ORVMs, split rear seats and 3 airbags.

The long list of features will be removed to make the price attractive for the commercial segment. It will be interesting to see the sales of Yaris when the fleet variant arrives.
