Toyota Yaris is a subcompact hatchback and could be launched in India by 2018.

Toyota Yaris India Launch
There is no exact confirmation from the company about the year for Yaris’ India launch

Owing to the fact that low budget Toyota cars have failed to fetch expected sales in the Indian market, the company is keeping the particular segment aside, as of now. Instead, Toyota’s focus right now is towards their high priced vehicles. Therefore, a company official has stated that the Japanese carmaker is planning to launch the Yaris hatchback but, not soon, perhaps in 2018.

Expressing a hint of disappointment, Toyota’s managing director had said that the Etios, launched in 2010, did not go well as per the sales as Indian customers are preferring various other options. Toyota stands in the Indian market with just 5 percent of market share, whereas its rivals have succeeded in acquiring a better position with their offerings that match Indian customer preferences.

Talking about the Toyota Yaris, it is a subcompact hatchback and, when launched, it would be one of the most cost-effective offering by the company. Currently, it is available with three and five door options with varying engine specifications according to the country where it has been made available. Similar to other cars, Toyota has made available a hybrid option in the Yaris as well and the vehicle will be tweaked for India.

Toyota is waiting for the safety and emission norms issues to come to a concrete conclusion so that the company could plan to launch its new line up for India without hesitation. Soon the company will introduce hybrid versions of the Etios, Corolla Altis, Liva, Innova Crysta and Fortuner.
