The TVS Apache 200 has finally been revealed in leaked pictures from what seems like the product’s official brochure. Specifications of the much awaited motorcycle are out as well.

TVS Apache 200 Official
TVS Apache 200 produces 20.23 HP of power and 18.1 Nm of torque

TVS Apache owners and fans have had a long wait and by the looks of things, they might be in for some disappointment. While we are the last to judge anything till we experience it in person, on paper specs of the Apache 200 doesn’t seem to excite us. From reports of the motorcycle giving the KTM Duke 200 a run for its money with better performance, to the official numbers which don’t even match the 4-year old Pulsar 200 NS, the Apache 200 is definitely late to the party but the wait might not just be worth it.

We are saying this because the TVS Apache 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder engine that is an air-cooled unit and employs oil cooling, like the Pulsar 220. Power output is 20.23 HP at 8500 RPM while torque output is 18.1 Nm at 7000 RPM, the numbers being lower than the 200cc Pulsar which too uses a carburettor and 4-valves. While the Apache 200 is already inferior on output numbers, it also makes do with a 5-speed gearbox.

The TVS Apache 200 weighs 140 kgs and the company claims a 0-60 km/hr sprint in 3.9 seconds (when we tested the AS 200 earlier this year, we managed a 0-60 km/hr time of 3.92 seconds and expect the Apache to be slower than the Pulsar). A top speed of 130 km/hr is expected on this Indian bike, which again is lower than its chief rival. The new 200cc motor is a bored out version of the Apache 180, having a bore size of 66 mm while the stroke remains the same at 57.8 mm, the ratio being 1.14. The engine idling is set at 1400 + 200 RPM and there is no kick start.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has been inspired from the Draken concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The motorcycle gets LED DRLs, LED tail light, clip-on handlebars, split seats, petal discs (270 mm front, 200 mm rear), rear monoshock, mobile charging slot and optional dual-channel ABS. It will be offered in 6 colours namely white, yellow, red, silver, black and matte black. The price of the TVS Apache 200 is expected to be around Rs. 90,000/- (ex-showroom) with the ABS variant costing around Rs. 15,000/- more. The Apache 200 will ride on 90/90/17 front and 130/70/17 rear TVS Srichakra tyres.
