TVS electric 2-wheelers will have an output of up to 25 kW (33.5 BHP)

TVS Motor Company has announced that it will introduce its complete range of electric 2-wheelers in the next 2 years.

Joint Managing Director of TVS Motor Company, Sudarshan Venu has recently revealed that the firm will launch, in stages, new electric 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers for both passenger and cargo segments.

These electric vehicles (EVs) will have power outputs ranging between 5 kW (6.7 BHP) and 25 kW (33.5 BHP) and the company is investing over Rs. 1000 crores for its upcoming EVs.

It aims to “play a leading role in this in the EV space going forward” as, according to Venu, “….EV is very important for us and we’re investing behind it.”

However, before that happens, TVS intends to upgrade its iQube electric scooter in the “next couple of months,” said to Sudarshan Venu, adding that the scooter will be available in 20 more cities within this month. It is currently sold in 4 cities.

He also specified that TVS plans to offer the iQube, which has a 2.25 kWh Lithium-ion battery and a range of 75 km, across the nation before the end of this fiscal year.

TVS electric 2-wheelers will also likely be exported in the future and the company, says Venu, is “announcing charging partnerships to scale up the fast charging and convenience to customers.”

This has to be done, as the Joint Managing Director of TVS Motor Company states that adoption of EVs will depend on various factors, including “the maturity of technology, the improvements in technology and the advances, subsidies and customer acceptance, creation of charging infrastructure.”
