TVS Apache Matte Black Edition

TVS Motor has launched a special version of the company’s flagship motorcycle the Apache RTR 180 celebrating the release of the latest X-Men franchise, X-Men – Days of Future Past. The new Apache RTR 180 Matte Black Edition adds a new colour to the motorcycle’s palette and was first showcased at the India Bike Week held earlier this year. The Apache features an all-black matte body colour with a few extra body graphics.

The TVS Apache RTR 180 Matte Black Edition gets no changes to the powertrain. The bike is powered by the same 177.4cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that produces 17.3 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 15.5 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed transmission. The Apache manages decent numbers for TVS every month and the new edition is only to keep the model fresh. The company sold a little over 14,000 units of the Apache in March this year, which is good for a bike which hasn’t been updated in a long time now.

The Apache however, will get a major upgrade later this year. TVS confirmed that a new Apache will be launched by the end of this year and could feature a bigger powertrain, while some of the features will come from the Draken concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. The new Apache is rumoured to be powered by a 250cc engine while TVS will bring out bikes with BMW Motorrad only next year.
