App-based cab booking service Uber, has partnered with the Bengaluru based Wicked Ride, to offer premium 2-wheelers on rent. The service, started on 14th May 2016, looks to improve upon the controversial UberMoto service that was launched earlier this year. The service ‘Uber Wicked Ride’ will be offered in limited windows through the Uber dashboard in 12 major cities starting with Bengaluru and Mysuru.

Wicked ride is a bike rental start up that was established in Bengaluru few years back. This will be the second major venture by Wicked Ride in Bengaluru. It aims to expand its services to all major cities in India. This Venture with Uber could very well be what they needed to kick-start this expansion.

The service will be available from 12 Noon – 4 PM. Customers can choose to either go pillion or ride the bike themselves. Riders need to be of 21 years of age at least, with a valid license for motorcycle with gear and a PAN card. Once booked, A Wicked representative will get the desired 2-wheeler to your doorstep for the test ride. The test ride will be allowed for 15 minutes. It goes without saying that users are expected to follow all traffic and safety rules and speed limits. Riders are required to be dressed in full denims and have to wear a helmet while taking the test ride.

This being the promotional phase, Uber is offering the temporary services for free. However, if they chose to launch a permanent paid service, expect it to be priced at a premium over the already functioning UberMoto services which ply at a base fare of Rs. 15/-, Rs. 3/- per km and Rs. 1/- per minute. These services will not only decongest our roads but will also make the journey a memorable one courtesy of these exquisite machines.
