2014 Hero Super Splendor Launch

As part of its efforts to update the entire product portfolio, Hero MotoCorp has launched the updated version of the Super Splendor 125cc motorcycle in India which now comes with an improved appearance. Much like the older version, the Super Splendor measures 1995 mm in length, 735 mm in width and 1095 mm in height and gets mildly improved aesthetics lending a fresh new look to the commuter motorcycle. The updated Hero Super Splendor has been priced at Rs. 51,250/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Changes on the 2014 Hero Super Splendor include revised instrument cluster which now features side stand indicator, new body graphics and new black alloy wheels. The updated model comes with the option of six colours to choose from. In terms of powertrain, the Super Splendor is powered by the same 124.7cc air-cooled, single-cylinder OHC engine that produces 9.12 PS of power at 7000 RPM and 10.35 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM, mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox.

The Super Splendor rides on a tubular double cradle type chassis and gets telescopic hydraulic shocks at the front and swing arm with five-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from 130 mm drum brake setup at the front and rear wheels. Hero has discontinued the optional front disc brake that was available on the older model. The bike tips the scales at 121 kgs, while the top speed is rated at 90 km/hr.

Even with the Honda Activa closing in on the Hero Splendor range in terms of sales, the motorcycle’s loyal fan following and no nonsense ownership still makes it the preferred choice among the masses. The updates will help keep the model fresh, even as new competition enters the segment.
