Since the beginning of mankind, the human race has created inordinate number of things. But according to any automobile enthusiast, the single best thing ever created is a V12 engine. Just like the symphonies created by the great Ludwig Van Beethoven. The V12 when cranked up, makes the symphonies that can mesmerise any car guy.

Many of the greatest cars in history have used one or the other type of V12 engine. Automotive marvels like the Ferrari 250 GTO, McLaren F1, Pagani Zonda, Jaguar E-Type and the Porsche 917, all have used this renowned engine configuration. Also, these engines are very versatile and can be seen in high revving supercars as well as in the ultra-luxurious land yachts.

But as the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end”, we are approaching towards the vanishing point of this glorious engineering wonder. Due to the stricter emission norms of this modern era, these huge gas-guzzling powerhouses are approaching towards an end. Except for a few, most of the manufacturers are ready to part their ways with the V12s. But the remaining few are also concerned, for the time left, until they have to surrender at the fore of stern regulations. The V12 is becoming an endangered species.

Even the Italian automaker, Ferrari is afraid of the emissions and sound regulations getting in the way of producing more V12s. But on the brighter side, Ferrari also said that they would fight for this engine, and continue to develop it to comply with the firm directives. Furthermore, Lamborghini also stated that there is still much life left in the big V12.
