Volkswagen Ameo 1.0-litre petrol launched in India to replace 1.2-litre variant, prices remain the same as before.

Volkswagen 1.0-Litre MPI Petrol Engine
The 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine is naturally aspirated and thus, misses out on a turbocharger

The Volkswagen Ameo 1.0-litre petrol has been launched in India with prices unchanged. The Ameo Trendline starts at Rs. 5.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine replaces the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine in the Ameo. The new engine produces 1 BHP more while the torque has gone down by 15 Nm when compared to the 1.2-litre MPI engine.

The new BS-6 compliant 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder MPI petrol engine makes 75 HP of power at 6200 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3000-4300 RPM. The powerplant comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The German automaker hasn’t revealed the fuel-efficiency figure but we expect a slight increase in the same. Meanwhile, the company will continue to offer the vehicle with a 1.5-litre TDI 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 108 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque.

Volkswagen also recently launched the Ameo Pace limited edition priced at Rs. 6.1 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The Ameo Pace is based on the Comfortline trim and also offers the new 1.0-litre engine under its hood.
