Volkswagen has silently introduced a new variant to the Polo and the Ameo line-up here in India. Termed the Highline Plus variant, this is the top-of-the-line variant that sits above the Highline variant. Volkswagen has not yet updated the official website in this regard.

On the Volkswagen Polo, the Highline Plus variant gets an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system, a reversing camera and 16-inch alloy wheels instead of the 15-inch wheels. The Polo Highline Plus variant is expected to be priced at a premium of Rs. 26,000/- over the standard Highline trim.

The Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus variant too gets an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system and reversing camera. However, the 16-inch alloy wheels are offered as optional. Both the Polo and Ameo are powered by the same petrol engine- a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit with 74 HP and 110 Nm of torque.

However, when it comes to diesels, the 1.5-litre engine is common to both the Polo and Ameo, but the power output and torque figures are different. While the Polo produces 89 HP and 230 Nm of torque, the Ameo is good for 109 HP and 250 Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, however the Ameo diesel is also available with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The price for the Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus petrol is likely to start at Rs. 7.35 lakhs and go up to Rs. 7.45 lakhs (for the 16-inch alloys variant) and Ameo Highline Plus diesel is likely to start at Rs. 8.59 lakhs and go up to Rs. 8.69 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Mumbai).
