The 2018 Yamaha FZ-S rear disc variant launched, priced at Rs. 86,042/-

New Yamaha FZ-S FI
The rear disc variant is priced at a premium of Rs. 3000/- over the regular FZ-S FI without rear disc

‘Finally’ is the word that comes to our mind when we start to even think of reporting this news. The FZ V2 was launched back in 2014 and a rear disc brake variant (at least as an option) was highly anticipated. But enthusiasts in the country were disappointed as that feature could not make it to the FZ and Fazer 150. However almost four years later, the Japanese bike maker has launched the rear disc brake on the FZ-S owing to stiff competition from the likes of Suzuki, Bajaj, TVS and Honda.

Commemorating 10 successful years of the FZ series in India, Yamaha is offering a 220 mm rear disc brake on the FZ-S FI. Apart from the rear disc, the motorcycle comes in a new Armada Blue colour and gets 10-spoke alloy wheels (instead of the 5-spoke), new mirror design and some new graphics as well. The bread and butter model of Yamaha will continue to feature the 149cc Blue Core single-cylinder, air-cooled and fuel-injected motor producing 13.2 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. This powertrain comes matched to a 5-speed gearbox.

Other highlights of the motorcycle are split seats, full-digital instrument cluster, rear under seat storage and split grab rails. The company is also likely to give the rear disc feature on the FZ FI and Fazer FI (150cc versions).
