Yamaha India’s scooter division currently comprises of four models, all of which are powered by an 113cc single-cylinder engine. However, it is a larger capacity model that the scooter enthusiasts crave for from the performance two-wheeler maker, and Yamaha is surely and silently working on bringing the same in the future. As per the recent import data records, the Japanese auto giant has imported the Majesty (XC155) scooter in the country for R&D purposes, hinting towards a launch possibility in the future.

Available in 125cc and 155cc engines globally, the Yamaha Majesty S is christened as the SMAX in Taiwan, from where the model has been imported and is powered by a 155cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine tuned to produce around 15 PS of power and 13.5 Nm of torque, paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. The 125cc variant sold in Europe produces around 12 PS and 11.6 Nm of torque, paired to a CVT unit. The power scooter gets massive dimensions boasting of a commanding road presence along with several features including the LED position lamp and LED tail light, 13-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels with wavy front and rear disc brakes; massive under seat storage and a flat foot board.

Furthermore, the Yamaha Majesty gets telescopic forks at the front and a horizontal set shock absorber at the rear, along with a step-up seat and tall visor in order to offer maximum comfort to the rider and pillion. If the automaker is indeed planning to bring the Majesty to India, it needs to be seen as to which powertrain will be made available. Internationally, the Majesty S 155 rivals the Honda PCX150, another model that is expected to hit Indian shores in the future. Incidentally, Yamaha also imported the NMAX 155 scooter earlier this month and it seems the company is working upon all sorts of concoctions to see which model suits the Indian market better.
